A special thanks to Ron and Sharon Mouser as they invited me to shoot from the bucket of Lubbock's Ladder Truck #1 at the Cowboy Symposium in 2018.
I have a lot of patience when shooting - about ten seconds on average. But, it is something I'm trying to change.
Several years ago, I captured this image near Fort Sumner by waiting a little longer than usual to get the second shot. Simply waiting a few minutes allowed the sky to change dramatically, giving me a very different, but memorable image.
From now on, patience it is. Maybe. Even if I can't promise myself I'll do this, I do recommend it highly.
For years, a good friend had mentioned Ghost Ranch as a location I should check out. A few days before this shot was taken, Steve had passed through the area and loved the look of the Cottonwood color change on the nearby river. He asked me to quit thinking about it and commissioned me to head out that weekend to capture the beauty of the trees changing color.
