Deep within the Japanese Gardens in Portland, Oregon. If you've ever doubted the wisdom of shooting in 'raw' format this could be a lesson. At the end of the day, I discovered I had severely underexposed the shot, but with the latitude of a raw capture, I was able to process exactly what I had fallen in love with on location.
It's interesting how some pictures come about. I say that because at the time this was snapped, I was talking to Ed Spence about ..... well, that part's not important ..... and simply stepped over to the panel and pressed the shutter button.
Once home, I saw it as an interesting abstract, and even though I didn't get the composition I'd hope for, I like it enough to save until I get a second chance at it.
I did my research. I planned the shot. I hired a guide to make sure I stood in the right place. I did not prepare for the feeling I would have when I pressed the shutter. Over twenty years of planning and here it was - right in front of me.
And I got it!
